I pureora south block, no roaring yet. Was close to a deer passing not too far from my trail cam spot. I heard him vanish away as he crossed my wind. Nothing else otherwise.

One moan at 9am in the north pureoras and that was all today. Dry cornflakes to walk on and rubbish left in the hut by lazy buggers
Was up the Hopkins Valley the last few days. Didn’t hear any roaring
Black Gully domain tonight fallow croaking going right off

Roaring in the back of oxford this morning, stopped as soon as the clouds went red.
Busted a hind near a good wallow an hour ago. Every animal size seem to be cooling off in it during the day.
Nothing else.
Was down Wanaka way last week. Hot weather and very dry. Heaps of hinds around. A few roaring, but I wouldn’t say they were “going off” …. I reckon they’ll be bang on say 1 April.
Had a funny moment earlier, I'm hanging out at our family bach north of kaikoura, bush comes to the back of the property.
Just as dark came on I heard a roar bloody near out the back and raced outside.... to see the neighbour in his back yard with a bull horn practicing :D
Just had 4 days in Westland / Buller
Lots of roaring and hunted in on plenty of them.
Only 2 smaller multi point stags seen but LOTS of silly spikers.
Got into bow range of 3 spikers while bush stalking.
So just a little bit early yet for the big stags to waste their energy on serious roaring.
Also it's been very dry there and it was very warm every day.
I think the heat was making them even more nocturnal than usual
Heard a few in whirinaki over the weekend
Very poorly in Waiotahi Valley, currently like summer up here!
3 days in motu, only heard 1 roar for the trip. Felt like summer in there
Going hardin Taumaranui this weekend... kept me awake all night!!! Was so cool watching them, just was just out for meat so took 2 hinds. Left the big boys for the trophy hunters in the next few weeks when I stay well away.
yeah starting to round here
Sighted first fallow buck for the yr, just checking the girls, can't wait.
On my way home this evening I followed a Ute with a red stag carcass across the back into Kumeu.
Tararua foothills they're going. Was outsmarted by one this morning.

Kaimais have been roaring since the weekend. Only from 0630-0930 then it gets too hot. Anything over 15 degrees and they’re quiet.
Cornflakes under foot doesn’t help at all. Would post a video of some roaring but can’t on here [emoji1303]

Another buck out checking this morning at just on daybreak, bit aggressive with the girls so they raced off into the bush.
A few heehaws over night but quiet during the day, lots of fresh scrapes around- Kaimanawas
Was up Kakaho rd in the Pureora weekend before last, no roars. Ohakune area last weekend still nothing.
Drizzly rain at 01:00 up by mt hutt this morning and still 12 degrees. Not surprised they aren't going nuts, too warm for vigorous exercise.
Finally heard some roaring at the local.
Heard one stag let out a couple of quiet moans at dawn yesterday just north of Haast. Only one heard in 4 days. Saw a reasonable number holding hinds, just weren’t making any noise yet.
SE Ruahines going ok yesterday evening, 6 or so different stags moaning in this catchment but not full swing. Roared up a spiker let him go, got another one going but ran out of light.
Belt of warm rain for the next few days in the Kaimais. Went out for a morning hunt and they aren’t liking the heat. Few moans but nothing like a week ago. I’d say mid next week they’ll be humming!

Just spent 4 days up on Pourangaki tops Ruahines and very quiet not much roaring heard , except for in one gully there were a couple of 6ptrs but they weren't showing much interest in the 6 or so hinds in the same gully. Met a guy camped by Maungamahue that said much the same , seen a few stags but nothing worth shooting.
Maungamahue was one of the spots guys flew into on the recent Management /cull hunt organized i think by wellington NZDA and DOC . I did think that was an odd place to go because it does get hunted regularly as its not that hard to get too, but apparently they shot 19 hinds from the area.
Yip they moaning in south Canterbury today...but strangely all the old wallows haven't been opened up again.i went past four that are normally used and none were muddy.saw a few that were more like scrapes. Bizzare.
No roars where I was in Nelson Lakes this week, but in other parts I hear they were from another member
