Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone’s been out for a tahr hunt since level 2? what were numbers like Still a few around or has the “tahr control plan” made a huge dent in population. Cheers

Yup and nope. Thar numbers havent seemed to be affected where I go. I even seen 8 chams and 3 deer this trip. Do not normally see them in where I was. First group of chamois were feeding 10m away from 2 bulls. They dont normally hang out that close.

I’m going in three weeks so I’ll see if I can get some good snaps with mine. Hopefully there’s a 13 in the valley I’m hunting and I can get a close up Of it like the keas

Yip and yip. Went out last weekend and a mate shot a 12" bull with a nice cape. Seen around 4-5 bulls and a heap of nannies. No deer though sadly.
Having a rest day at Christchurch today and heading for Thar country tomorrow
