Hasnt been a lot of rain up there in the last 6 weeks, will be ok.But watch the rain in the next 3 days.Macaulay drains pretty quick tho.Big difference in crossing rivers tho if you in a low flying suki or a landcrusier tho.
Old man has just got out of there been up there last month or so doing pest work on the Macaulay and the Godley. Been crossing it no worries with his 4x4 Canter towing a big fifth wheeler

Cheers guys got a lifted sas'd surf so sounds like I shouldn't have too many issues
Just watchn the Rakaia river rising at this, moment.Rising at 1.146 mtrs/hour=about 45 inchs a hour and still rising at this rate.
Rakaia at 1350 cumecs = I probably wouldn't bother even considering going near any Southern Alps river for the next 5 days
Yeah the mid Wilberforce & Mathias were dry up until a few hours ago. Should drop just as quick, but as gimp said...stay away & let it drop.

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Don't go near it for at least a week , longer if this snow keeps up . All the big boulders will be covered in snow up the river bed
and I don't care how good your 4x4 is it would be rucked up in the first couple of km's .
Live in twizel and its snowy as at the moment all the big catchments will be out for a bit are you guys looking at doing a bunch of walking or wanting to drive in to a hut ect?
I know the place well,id wouldnt bother going there for a couple of weeks.Good time to wreck the best of 4x4 trucks.
Yea not keen to wreck a truck or become a statistic. Was keen to head up Macaulay and camp up on the sides, guess its onto plan B or C
