Anyone hunted Backstream in the Blue Mountains

    Hi Guys

Just after some info regards this block, particularly the bottom section or beat closest to the gate end.

I have heard it is a bit of an arse getting in and around here, bush a bit tight, just wondered if anyone has poked their nose in here before.

    Cheers

They changed names to the blocks there. Got a rough map? I've hunted most of the place, well the Belmont end that is.

Its down the other end WH, I've not been in there sorry Dino but I know people that have and had success. Its not bad and there are areas of nice Beech tree ridges, I think you just have to find the access point of the forestry tracks...

    Cheers for the replies

Wirehunt, Backstream is the gully to the right off Telford Tops Rd goes from the locked gate at the bottom and finishes at the boundary with Garden Gully, long skinny block.

Figured there are deer in their, see and hear of them being shot of that section of road often enough.

All good will poke about and write up a report on Sunday...1 more freezer filler before the rut would be nice!

Have a good weekend boys...don't miss

    Cheers

Back from a hot day stalking.

We did not need to hunt the lowers action as we had 1 guy pull out.

We dropped in half way up the block by walking down McCara Rd, quick scramble down a steep spur and we reached the ridge we intended to hunt. Some old sign seen in the lower half, fresher and more sign as we stalked up. Couple of open areas but mostly covered in regen, quite good broadleaf in the guts and sides of the ridge. We managed to wind a deer, we heard it crashing off, good stuff to keep the excitement up for a newbie I had taken for the day.

We popped out to the road at 12.30 and walked a bit further up to have lunch, glass for a silly deer and catch up with our mate who had hunted further up.

It was pretty hot so we decided to park ourselves up and have a kip before heading out for evening hunt. Me and the dg found a good tussock and started chopping down trees..lol.

Evening hunt plans hatched, we decided to walk down a crawler track to access the bush line, dog was ground scenting like crazy, fresh marks everywhere.

Young lad in front was told to slow down a couple of times as we could bump into a deer anytime, we did manage to spook 1 at close range, pretty thick as the crawler had piled up pines now overgrown with bush lawyer and just general shit so did not get a glimpse.

we stalked the last section now expecting to see a deer, managed to see 3, trying to get the young fella into a better position to shoot from and they were onto us, still a good day, young fella learned a couple of things and seen his first deer stalking as opposed to running in front of his vehicle.

Wouldn't rush back to this block, obviously holds deer like most of the Blue Mountains, but beggars can't be choosers so if I draw it again will be back, just not a preferred block.

    Cheers
