anyone using a weimaraner for deer?

I have my name down for one at the end of the year, i have researched a lot online but havent got much info from people hunting with them

I ran into a english dude with two the other day (dogs moved over to nz with him) all he said was they were real easy to train for pheasant but need alot of attention then some more!

Im kool with that, i just want to know some pro's and con's for in the bush, eg are they heavy breathers, get cold easy etc?

any info would be great thanks!

I had a weimaraner bitch for years.Once she had deer worked it out she was pretty good.I missed quite a few deer at the start making sure she didnt chase them.
I used her on ducks etc and she did have a good point on pheasants. This was only a problem when you find quail in the middle of the Kaimanawas.Amazing where you find them way up past Jap creek.
They do not like the cold,I had a polar fleece coat the wife made ,used to put it on her at night. But she used to end betwen me and my mates when fly camping and she would always have the best spot.
Very quiet in the bush.Only got whiney when wanting to climb into helicopters she loved them.
I reckon there isn't too much difference between the GSPs,Weimaraners Viszlas etc. They are all quiet in that they dont pant much. They air scent so don't sound like a vacuum cleaner unlike the springer I had.
All that matters is get what you like and put the time in.

I Was on a waiting list for one when I got offered my free Viszla. They were on the top of my choices list only because I used to hunt one that my Dad owned.
In My View they are just as good as any of the Versatile's and are under used.
