Thread: ASE suppressor vs Hushpower

I think Hushpower is a Gun City venture, or they perhaps have an exclusive agreement with the manufacturer in ChCh. I have the latest Hushpower suppressor for my Glock 17, and it's a piece of shit. Falls to bits and doesn't do a lot of suppressing, even with slow ammo.

My mate had Gun City in Wellington put a Hush Power suppressor on his Ruger .270. He asked me a help him because it wouldn’t shoot. When I took it too the range it could hit a target st 100 yards.
Turned out the project was clipping the end if the suppresso on the way out. The rear bush also didn’t touch the barrel at all.
Personally I wouldn’t go near a Gun City/Hush Power suppressor.

Yeah, stayed away from them due to the poor QC but when they worked, sound reduction was decent.

Interestingly, the design looks a lot like the Greystone can but certainly doesn't perform like one!

I've just picked up a Greystone K Baffle suppressor. They were not reviewed in the magazine test but my past experience with them for quality and noise suppression has me paying the extra $

Kinda like a slimline MAE nicely fluted, 38mm diameter, 25 cm long and weighing in at 420 gr.

Went .223 specific to get the best noise suppression. A little heavy compared to the DPT and Hardy but will be testing it on Anniversary weekend so will report back after that.

well ! have 2 Hardy Cans. A gen 5 short one on a 243 and just had a gen5 Stealth Fitted to a 223 and 243.
Would say I was a little ho hum about the short one but the front over hang is very short 75mm which is important on a bush rifle. I have noticed that the exit has a mark inside but it has been on 3 barrels so I cant comment any more just now and it has had the bore snake through as well.
to be fair its mostly been on short 18 & 20 in barrels where accuracy of 1.5-2 inch with low power scopes was acceptable.

The stealth is amazing really knocks the sound, blast and recoil right down. very impressed with it. If you can handle handle the extra length and dollars I would recommend it.
Currently getting 1/2 moa with basic home loads just shooting over my bag in the field, not on a bench.

+1 from me, spent waaay too long figuring out that my hushpower 370 screwed the accuracy on my 308.

Yeah, I have a Gen IV on my .223 that I bought from @Sasquatch and for me it's pretty poor at noise reduction. It's short and light so it will make a good .17 hmr can I guess... I always wanted to try a Hardy but now that I have had the Gen IV I'll stick with the ones that work well.

To be fair to Hardy I just want to point out that there is a difference between the Gen IV and Gen V short ones, Gen IV projects some gas/noise out sideways while the Gen V sends it all away from you.
I went the Gen 5 compact as I was wanting as short a front over hang as possible. My mates use DPT and a MAE I think on 223 and 7M08. They all sound similar without specialist meeting gear ( I had the shortest barrel by 4" and was the loudest without a silencer).
I was OK with the extra price of the Gen V for the shortness as I was getting it for a scrub and bush rifle.

and just to reiterate the Gen V Stealth I have just got is way ahead of the other 3 for noise reduction. (would recommend this one again)
I next rifle will be a shorty again and I may try a DPT so I can play with removing modules. More for open country and day walks. Less for bush and carrying.

Funny that, they sell a muzzle brake that they admit is a copy of my T2 Terminator Muzzle Brake, but it certainly doesn't work like one & is only marginally cheaper than the normal retail price....

Apparently imitation is the highest form of flattery
