    Avoiding 1080

Hello everyone, I'm in the process of planning the route I'm going to take on my trip to the South Island next February. I have an idea of travelling North to South along the west Coast with 3 or 4 hunting excursions camping in the Bush for up to a week at a time. As I want to process and eat any animal I manage to kill and also get my drinking water from streams I want to avoid any areas that have had a 1080 drop. I've been looking through the DOC website but can't find what I'm after.
So is there a resource that will show where 1080 has been used in the recent past, I'm thinking up to a year before.
Also are there areas, maybe National Parks, where 1080 is never used?

Anywhere any poision has been used should be signposted at every entrance for at least as long as the witholding period after the operation.

Not used in national parks? ha-ha. The government loves the stuff, NZ national parks are where probably 90% of 1080 is used, globally.

I believe 1080 becomes inert in water, your biggest risk would be dead animals in the water.
NZ also has crypto and giardia "outbreaks" every now and then, fine with an acclimatised gut but I'd generally recommend filtering or treating it.

Many thanks guys, that link is exactly what I was after. Some large areas there but thankfully the areas I had in mind are clear. There is no poisoning here in the UK, but the deer numbers are at such high levels in Scotland that there are no trees left in much of it!
    Cheers,
    Nick

as some on here have said- more likely to get giardia - dont drink from the bottom of streams - take water from top of pools and you will be okay - 1080 6 months after drop you will be fine - but if brodifacoum has been used - one year - its way more nasty than 1080- but is not aerially spread - but even though it is used in bait stations its nasty residual stuff
