    B Day Hunt

So my eldest turned 17 today , yesterday I suggested perhaps a birthday hunt could be in order to try & curb her wicked vegetarian ways , surprisingly the suggestion wasn't met with an instant frown as is often the case with my suggestions !! .
An arvo hunt was planned to avoid the whore frosts we've been having her bf tagged along as well , I was really looking forward to a hunt its been like 2.5 months since id been for a shot & man birthday hunt just had that little ring to it , so we left home at 3pm sharp 10 minutes latter I suddenly realised id left something rather important behind ..no not the bolt or rifle ..the bullets so now we were behind schedule , 1 hour latter we pulled up to my little possie & gave the briefing no talking or being noisy..& don't slam the doors !.
It was a really nice evening sun was out with a brisk wind that appeared to north east so off we went with little sign about we quietly wandered along a game trail glassing along the way heading for a prominent ridge to see what was or wasn't on the other side , there was some brief squawking along the way seemly teens don't like gorse , 30 mins latter we quietly peered into a sheltered scrub basin & straight away I spotted 2 hinds they turned into 4 pulling the range finder out they were 226Y away the 308 is zeroed at 200 so we were in business , I got her set up with a pac on a tussock she said she was comfortable so I suggested a dry fire just to be sure..all go she lined up on the first deer to turn sideways and squeezed of a shot , boom flop

Bloody good story that. When I first read the title I thought you were after something to wash your bum with but glad that wasn't the case. Nice big fat hind, that'll keep the freezer topped up for a while. Did your daughter carry a leg or two out? Good motivation this story for a couple of folk I know here struggling to get their kids out.

I’m not sure , I gave up some time ago hassling her about it though I did broach the subject a couple of weeks ago & seemly she’s going to start eating fish but now she has her own deer & some friends turning up for a bbq I’m thinking there’s a chance & marinated venison is/was one of her fav,s , though she can be a stubborn byarch so will wait & see
