    Back to paradse

    Greetings to all Kiwi hunters, both those that I do not know, and especially to those that I do know all ready. Special greetings to all the fellas I met in Kurow at the big bore shoot and the fine people I have been hunting with so far.

    The Short Dane is coming back. Yes I have planned to return to The land of plenty in december. Last year I brought my Sako A7 which is a pretty good shooter, but this time I thought I would carry something more light and packable, so I bought a take down Baikal rifle in 30/06 IZH-18MH. A very cheap rifle, about 500 NZ dollar new. It seems to be a very fussy eater, it throws every thing I feed it in any direction, but directly backwards. If anyone knowns what ammo goes well in this rifle I will be pleased to know. If I can not find something that will make this rifle shoot straight I will just have to bring the Sako!. I can not bring a rifle that shoots so badly for hunting ( maybe hence the price? )

    Last time I was here one of my fellow hunters gave me the advice to come back in spring ( november) for thar hunting ( I did not shoot one last time I was here ) It will be december instead ,hope that will be good to. Any advice on where to go will be much appreciated. I will be very happy to go along with anyone who are going on a meet hunt as well, as the hills are a bit challenging for a fella from a country as flat as the stare of Denmark, to take on, on his own.

    Cheers The Short Dane

    I remember a couple of Danes coming here and shooting our lovely protected Blue Ducks. I hope you are not one of them with your 'back to paradise' (also a duck) reference ???

    did he mention shooting any ducks ? that's a bit rough......
    @The Short Dane

    I had a look at the bakail single and the trigger on it was bloody awful that could have a bit to do with having trouble getting it to shoot

    Peder is a good guy, he was here for the big bore shoot earlier this year.
    I'd bring the Sako for the tahr. The Baikal is more of a short range rifle. December should be OK for that still, not as low as November but still gettable.

    They were Norwegian and they shot two Kereru. Not that its an excuse
    The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

    I sincerely hope they did that from mistake! Not that it is a good excuse, one should always know what one is shooting at!

    Dane Rasmus Neilson shot a Whio in 2016. Perhaps he was planning a combined dinner with the Norwegians ??

    Hi mate. I have decided to bring the sako, which is pretty straight shooter, and maybe have a gunsmith look at the baikal later. Thanks for advice:
