You sound a dead ringer for one of the parents of children at a club camp. One of the "activities; was for the children to be taken for a walk along clear paths through the bush after dark and told to listen for the animal noises and activities. Only the Adult leaders of each small party had a torch and the children were warned against making any noises as the 'possums in the trees would pee on them if they did.
At least one child, of course failed to remain quiet and the parents up in the trees armed with water pistols would ensure that more children.......made a noise.
