    Barlow hut, Ruahines

Hi, my mate wants to take his quad for a hunt....
Have heard you can drive a quad to the hut.
Do any of you lot have any advice or insight into this or any suggestions for huts that can a quad can get to within 3-4 hours of Auckland please?

    Cheers, 40mm

I haven’t been up there for a few years but very dependent on river levels as to whether you can get a bike up there without drowning it. Or yourself! Especially in winter.

Mates went up there in weekend. Drove half way up river. I’ll find out for you if quad could get further

Just asked them. They bumped into a hunter while up there, said he’d taken quad to hut a few weeks ago when river level was down.

Hey mate, sorry just seen this.
Yup after the cyclone the gorge blew out and yeah now you can get a ute in there.
The rivers got a fair flow at the moment though.

Or you could just walk. That amount of fucktards trying to drive up there got stupid. Before old mate sold the farm Park Peak station was an unpaid fulltime tow service for selfish cunts. There's heaps of hunting from Gold Creek onwards anyways. Isn't the access down to the old mill closed anyways? It's like people who circle car parks trying to get a close spot to the gym. Harden up. Unless they're disabled or something like that I think it's just bullshit to try and drive everywhere. My kids have walked there since they were 10. It's not hard.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

If youre not up to it to walk out of there with a load, you’ll have trouble hunting the ground.
But it looks challenging gnarrly country for a quad - great adventure !
