Somewhere on here there is a thread 'taxidermist in Southland' I got a pair of 10point bucks within 10km of where it is rumored this one was taken

@Shearer saw one of a similar size from the living room (450m over a public road with houses around sadly) too dark for the camera

I have only heard "3rd hand rumours" but it was a tourist that comes here regularly, set his trail cameras, put up a fly spent the time out there (has been some shitty weather for fly camping) came back into town, went back out and an hour later got picked up by the taxi with it
Your 3rd hand rumours are not to far off! Wouldn't call myself a tourist though, was there to hunt!
Don't set up trail cameras but a mate did once on a trip there 4 years ago.
Yes I set up a fly camp & yes the 48 hours before I shot it was some of the worst hunting conditions weather wise I've ever encountered anywhere.
Yes I walked back out for a night to dry out & warm up, and then shot the buck next morning hunting my way back into camp but no it wasn't an hour later I was picked up again, was later in the day.

And yes it will be the new No.1 buck to come off the Island.

That's getting up there, Hammond's from Lake Wakatipu went 207 and I think that's the record.

Mate shot a huge one on the mainland last year. Will ask if he got that scored as must be up there. Well done @Huntn that is a phenomenal buck
