Looks like someone beat me to this type post re Doon block, but mate and I drew Billy Burn wapiti block and we were wondering if anyone has experience, ideas of animal numbers, any fun or useful bits of info you might wanna chat through via PM or phone or otherwise? Any info much appreciated.

    Cheers.

Where the big bulls are... did you access via mid burn or lugar? Hunt the true right or left of mid burn? Tops look easier than normal fiordland. Did you go up or animals down lower?

As Outdoorlad says take a look at the Hunters Club YouTube episode which will give you a bit of a handle on the block.
I hunted the Mid burn a few years ago and we took the same access up Tertiary Creek and up onto the edge of the head basin.
We split the block TL and TR of the Mid burn with another party who went in from the mouth.
We probably played it a bit too cautious (first wap trip) as there were plenty of cows and followers in the head basin getting harassed by young bulls and we waited for the big boys to show up rather than drop down into the mid valley… the big boys didn’t show up!
Pretty good going by Fiordland standards

Haven't done that just yet but planning to soon. I believe you can reach out to the FWF secretary and they can share the details of the other hunters.

Last time we just sorted it over the phone before hand, but I guess that would be the fairest way

How was Billy Burn? there doesn't seem to be much info about it despite being one of the more accessible blocks.
