How'd I miss this post ?..... well done that man
I had a play with one in what seems another lifetime ago now, through a guy I was working with, and I was very surprised with how accurate they were. Possibly because of all the forward weight.
Never did clock up a deer doing it though.

Have had some PM`s asking me how I make Black Powder. I have been making it for 30 odd years due mainly to the lack of it in the South Island and after reading about making it in a book Foxfire Volume-5, years ago. Everything black powder on you/tube is pretty comprehensive but I see no reason to Puck as I`m using front stuffers and my results I consider satisfactory.

I use it in all my Black powder firearms including Flintlocks flash pans.

Here is how I make it: First you need Potassium nitrate (Kno3), Sulphur, Charcoal ( I use Crack Willow), stale urine ( piss in a bottle and leave it in the shed for a few months)
I make 1 kilo at a time so 750grams Kno3, 150grams powdered charcoal, 100 grams sulphur, 300 mils stale urine.
Ball mill the Charcoal and sulphur for about 8 hours, only milling the 2 reduces the explosion risk of milling all 3 ingredients. Put the Kno3 and stale urine in a pot and bring to the boil. Turn down and simmer. Stir in the Milled ingredients. Stir for about 10 min.
Take off heat and mix will solidify. Break it up and force it through a course kitchen sieve. Lay out in a thin layer in sun to dry. Once dry and dust comes off it when you disturb it sieve it again and place in storage containers. Thats pretty much it done. As this is only screened and not pucked and granulated it weighs about 25% less than commercially bought powders so adjust loadings accordingly.
