So the shooter had walked for 2 hours and killed 9 animals, that's one every 13 minutes! Sounds like high numbers in that area.

I've taken some time off work over the last month and done a heap of day trips in Golden Bay and Westhaven Inlet. Seen an abundance of deer,pig,goat sign, from the tidal flats to the high ridges.
So much country, so few hunters. Easy deer on the farm boundaries for recreational hunters. No funding for DoC hunters unless the area has unique conservation values.

I seldom take meat from animals shot on control work. I don't think the animal cares either way.
