Thread: Boars shot 2018

Well didn't get any deer but managed shoot my first pig! Witch even happen to be a big boar !!! Lots of ks walked trying to blood the new rifle every other weekend for three months. So walking along a open creek me and the old man stop in our tracks to see a massive bit of pork standing broadside sunning itself. So up gos the mighty Howa and bang! The boar drops on the spot and three other pig run in all directions. Very happy to get some pork and even have a jaw to remember it by.

So how do I whiten up the jaw?

I’ll chip in with this 60lb boar from a couple of weeks ago.

Out looking for a deer and heard this one mooching round.

Good work, Hydrogen peroxide is what you use to whiten skulls and jaws. Alot better than bleach which weakens the bone and goes yellow over time.

This wont really count cos I bait them, feed them up on beef fat from the butchers then tip them over after a couple of months. Shoot them from the back door. this little fulla was a butter fat 62lbs. Fat must be good tucker , they dont seem to munch on dry old sticks like others in this thread have choked on.

Sneeze that pig should cook up like a shop bought piece of pork, much better with a bit of fat on them.

Iv been saving you pork for the last 2 and a half years. There some really good bacon waiting now as well but chances are ill have it all eaten before you actually get here.

Yes the young ones eat very well when fattened up. Doing it like this there's always a risk some else will get the benefit but well worth it so far.

@FatLabrador i soaked a broadbill bill in the bathtub for a day in 50/50 bleach/h2o and it whitened it up real good when it dryed out. Might work for your jaw too.

Two boars and a sow this morning, shot the first one, the other two gap it then turn around and come back, shoot the second the third looks at his mate spinning like a top for a few seconds long enough to reload.
Three fat little 40 pounders to gut, and I only had my pocket knife.

Best way to whiten up bone as mentioned before is peroxide, and the easiest/cheapest was to do it is just buy blonde hair dye from the supermarket, mix it up and brush it onto the bone, leave for a few hours then rinse it all off, does a mint job
