    BOOTS ADVICE

    Hey team,
Looking to buy some new boots as i have some ridgeline warriors which have been ok but are pretty heavy and getting tired now.
Don't have moonbeams to spend but want to get myself a nice birthday prezzy.
    Current options are
    Grisport Mohaka
    Lowa Z-6S GTX
    Lowa Renegade GTX (mid wide)

Going to buy new and would just like some feedback please.

    Thanks in advance.
    John

    Hi John,

What sort of country do you hunt?

I've had a very good run out of Haix boots. Both the Nebraska and K2 for South Island hunting but prefer something a bit more flexible when hunting the bush back home in the BOP.

The best thing you can do is go and try them on, every foot is different.

My Lowas have been excellent, however best for you to try them on in store to check for fit etc

The lowas are comfy enough but they are not designed for heavy load carrying. They are glorified sneakers, which is not a bad thing but they are not issued within army for load carrying applications. Boots are always an individual thing but I had to hang mine up in the middle east cos walking 6-16 km a day on rock with the weight of helmet and armour plus ammo, rifle and sidearm was too much and led to Achilles and calf issues. I have two pairs, still use em, but selectively.

JKust got a set of these from Trademe, Cost $275 landed from UK. I notice they don't have any at the moment. I also run Andrew's boots and brought these for bush stalking. Went to Kaweka for 4 days and wore these to see how they went. very nice to say the least

i wore mine well hunting ruggedy block in stewart island, salt water, fresh water etc and the only thing that ever went wrong was the rust on the D rings.
i bought a different model years later after the originals literally wore out, and after 4 or 5 years had them re-soled for $60 by paraflex. they are bloody indestructible !

Cheers guys. Went into my local HnF today and could not get any service for the life of me so will have to try on another day. The lowas did not look that sturdy unlike the grisport mohakas. I am not a small lad so will look around for sturdier boots.

I've stumbled across Garmont work for me wide fitting, I like having a rhind on my boots. Best advise is maintenance on your boots I dropped into my local saddler and purchased a quality leather conditioner it doesn't matter if you have a 1K pair of boots they won't last long if not cared for.
