Thread: Boyd Hut

ME and a mate are thinking of going for a few days in boyd hut area, have never been in there before but seriously needing to get out and about. Question is would the water be brewed up from the eruption or would it have settled by now? also are the deer numbers generally decent in the area? thanks for any help

There sre plenty of deer there but they are a bit shy to come out until right before dark. They like hiding in the Kanuka

Are you going in by shanks pony? If so via Cascade or Oamaru Hut?

Check with doc I thought that area got bombed by 1080 a month or two ago................

Been years since I have been there. The bush was a fair walk from the hut. Open shooting to be had if you get out of bed before the sparrows fart. If you walk the track to Casscade you are on private land before you know it, Same to the south. Tussock is a couple of hours stroll and will worth a look.
Will that is how I remember it.
