Bringing in Overseas Trophys and Meat

    Hey Guys,
I was just wondering how many of you have brought back game meat or trophies from overseas and what your process was.
I'm thinking meat is probably off the table but thought I would querie.
    Thanks,
    Cam

    Can't bring meat period.
Can bring salted cape and horns/antlers in check-in luggage or have it expedited.

Do you need any import permits etc? I have a Cape in the salt now and will boil out the skull tomorrow.

Ring AirNZ where you are they will advise.
But as long as horns/antlers are covered and cape is salted and under 70lbs it should be cool.

As long as heads are boiled and really clean. Capes salted will be taking off you and treated and heads might be too. Just declare everything and don’t bring any meat.

Make sure the trophies aren't on any list as endangered/restricted/rare or United Nations sanctioned.

Yep get the right permits, I needed a Cities permit for my Black Bear but because it had been done by a taxidermist it was aloud straight but that same year I bought mule deer antlers back but they needed to be fumigated. My moose came via Experditers in Alaska and was crated up and skull cap cleaned and headskin processed and salted. By using a a company that processes overseas trophies they should have all those things covered but it pays to check and you will pay for the service.

I’ve brought back mounted trophies a couple of times and ship them using a freight forwarding company. It’s a bloody hassle and expensive but gets them home ok.

For reference since I went and brought home a whitetail euro mount I just put it in my bag from Montana. Had boiled and peroxides it and I cut th skull at the rear to show it was clean. Crusty oms just smelt it and had a look at waved me through. No issues leaving the US didn't even ask me for a tag or anything
