    Bush Hunting Southern Ruahines

    Hi Guys,

Im newish to the Manawatu and am keen to get into a bit of bush hunting for something different, as the majority of my hunting up till now has been shooting onto slips.

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction in terms of road ends to try/ avoid - I have heard some are abit dodgy to leave vehicles at.

I have read a older few threads which said southern Ruahines hold reasonable numbers, but from what I have seen the bush can be pretty tight and full of supple jack.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dawg

Yep sure would, I have been up around the Rangiwahia area before and thought it was quite nice.

Hey bro never been a fan of bush hunting myself but seem to bump animals on way to slips all the time.

Ive left my car at just about every carpark in southan ruhaines and many further north and south and touch wood never had an issue.

Wouldnt stress about it too much bro get out there find some not so shitty bush and get into it

Good Vids - showing hunting and not just shooting.
1st one I watched showed first stalk - fired at sitting Hind and hit a vine.
Same experience for me 2 hours ago - getting a little annoyed with my performance with the .223 - bastard of a caliber for deflecting and its now happened 3 x in a row :-(

The key to bush stalking is to first get into bush that is holding Deer.
Don't waste time stalking through terrain that is empty - move freely and fast until you see fresh sign then monitor wind and start acting like a cat on a bird.
Move slow and short distances and listen - listen.
The job is 90% done if you locate them b4 they locate you - unless you hit brush/vines etc like me

Cheers for the new channel to watch. Another way to loose a few hours in the day.
I like the no bull shit attitude, no flash gear, straight shooting short bush rifle. Out there, doing it.
