    $2600 is a pretty decent start budget, you should be able to pick up a good rifle/scope combo for that. And if you havent had a lot of experience yet, then Sparrowhawk is less than hour away and has open range days each month. Great for learning and meeting guys that are like minded. And probably get the chance to play with a few different rifles before you buy.

    I bought a Tikka 22-250 as my first good hunting rifle when I was 18, 47 years ago. Still got it, still shoots lights out, will never part with it.
