You can buy a couple of good rigs for your budget.
Factory ammo? 308, 6.5 creed or 243 and a 223? Do Belmont ammo still load cheap and good ammo.
I wouldn't get too fussed on dial up scopes. Plenty of good scopes around $300 or $400.

Best part is when you get yourself onto an animal!
