A Mirkin is a pubic wig. In the previus couple centuries where medical issues were prominent (think 1700s through early 1900s) Prostitutes used them so they could clean themselves up ready for the next customer and not be all covered in "muck". It was in part a hygiene issue, and also gave a good impression for clients much like cleaning a car before selling it.....
Hence the term "Beaver" as such wigs were often made from Beaver fur.
