    Canterbury Hunting

I know its a bit of a long shot but @lumberjack and myself have just started at Lincoln University and we were wondering what local DOC blocks you guys recommend as we are from Otago so don't know the hunting in Canterbury? We are keen to chase anything from goats, pigs, deer, chamois and tahr. We are willing to do a couple hours travelling but don't have a ute so can't go past the carpark. Any info would be much appreciated

Good animals all through Canterbury, pick a hunting block and take some bino's. I never once did not see an animal on public land in Canterbury that I couldnt have stalked in on.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

We were in a similar position, just pick a block and you'll see something....not that we've been successful bagging one (more our ability rather anything else).

From Becks, not related to Stuart?

As others have said, Arthur's Pass NP & Lewis are good spots, the next 6 weeks or so will see the hills crawling with hunters so be careful & visible out there.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

Craigieburn too. Easier country than Arthurs Pass and just a bit better weather if its norwest.

Mt Thomas and Oxford used to have a lot of wasps.

Hi Luke, same question as you all these years ago. I'm first year at lincoln university doing BCom Ag and keen to get out somewhere where there is a good chance of seeing deer. Already had one trip in Arthurs pass, unsuccessful but keen to get out somewhere else for a look. Is there a general location you would recommend? Cheers
