Thread: Caples deer numbers post 1080

Hi All

I was stoked yesterday to have drawn the Upper Caples block from the ballot for this August. Have since discovered that there was a 1080 drop only a few weeks ago, which I understand did not use deer repellent. Just looking for any first hand accounts of people who have been in there during the current rut ballot period as to remaining animal numbers.

Hi, a mate of mine went for an unarmed stroll up Home Hill the other day and bumped a couple roaring stags and saw at least 5 other hinds running around the clearings near Home Hill hut. The pesticide map shows that "Prodeer Possum and Rat Bait" (i.e. deer repellent 1080) was dropped. Sounds like there is still plenty of animals around.
