500K boars every year taken in Germany but still not enough to keep population in check? Wow. Unless theres a Stuff reporter working for the Guardian/AP.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Police in Germany say a hunter has died after being attacked by a wild boar he was trying to shoot.
The 50-year-old man was on a boar hunt with a dozen others near the north-eastern town of Greifswald on Sunday when he was attacked by the male boar.
Witnesses reported that he fired off a shot and then moved into some reeds, where he apparently encountered the pig.
Police say the man suffered serious injuries to his left thigh and fell into nearby water. He died at a hospital and has not been identified.
Police say the boar’s whereabouts are unknown, and it is not clear if the animal was injured.
About 500,000 wild boars are killed each year in Germany. Experts say that is not enough to stop the population from growing."

Ouch. The pig must have got his femoral artery. If up near the groin it's very hard to stop the bleed, and hard to apply a tourniquet, only a few seconds to act in (and likely spent on fending off the pig) before passing out. Only hope is if hunting mate got to him immediately and knew what to do. Likely dead well before he got into the ambulance.

    - Some essential serious trauma kit.

And 500,000 shot a year and still a problem? You don't need to believe it:

    - In Usedom, Germany, they have a Wildschweine problem. They get fed white bread on the Polish side of the border, get shot on the German side of the border. One German Hunter tries to define the problem as, "we know where they are, but not when".

    - This is waaaay over the top. TOO FEW HUNTERS

Also check out how they are not afraid of humans, not sure if that would have contributed to the accident detailed above?

    - On Usedom, an island half Polish and half German, they have a Wildschweine problem. They get fed white bread on the Polish side of the border, get shot on the German side of the border. One German Hunter tries to define the problem as, "we know where they are, but not when". This is waaaay over the top.

Another video with more footage, point is made the pigs stop being nocturnal, lose fear of people, etc. Warning about getting too close to piglets or momma pig might go for you:

I just got an image in my head of the "Classic" pig hunter and pack of dogs catching a pig in the middle of those sunbathers on the beach

We could sell them some 1080, we have too much of it in this country!

Seriously, the boar problem could be quickly taken care of if the were shooting females in greater numbers, which they don't as hunters wants to keep numbers high. Same problem in France
