Any chance any of you fine blokes have any info on this block or catchment ? In particular the doc track that’s on some maps that leads out to the middle of the valley ? It looks pretty hairy and gorgey etc .
Cheers in advance

We flew in to the mid way flats a few years ago. Had a good look around for about 3-4 days, saw and heard no deer, but a little old sign around. Very little bird life either, other than parrys. A few chamois on the tops though, and the country is fantastic. Not sure on the track sorry, we went down a bit below the bottom flats and travel through the bush was pretty good so if you get around the lower gorge you should be fine. Note that the station doesn't allow vehicle access during the roar, so you would need to boat or walk up.
What period have you got Cascade creek for ? We have block 40 (sawyer burn) for 2nd period, not sure what to expect, havent heard great things
I was in the head of the cascade last week looking for Cham, no deer or deer sign. a few Cham about.
on its way!
Thanks for the info guys , not sure it’s gonna be worth the trip down .
Sadly quite a few of those blocks are just over the hill from Maka, gets snotted by the waro chopper based there. Had Big Hopwood Burn 5-6 years back. Fark all sign despite some very promising country. What sign there was found in bush in lower sections. Also found a bunch of paunches on one promising face next to bush. But you never know your luck, some good genes in the Hunter and side creeks.
One of the boys from work got a very nice stag out of an Otago block last year (Minaret burn? ) so there are good stags still floating around
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
