Central north island ish unguided hunts

    Hey guys and girls
Looking to take the old man and brother out for a weekend hunt to get their first deer.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a place that offers unguided hunting for meat animals. It seems most places stipulate must be guided
Ideally would also have a hut to stay in. Not looking for a fancy lodge.
    Cheers
    James

I've found that unguided hunts on private property normally come after the landowner or guiding company trust you enough to not enforce the use of a guide.
It's safe to say that some places will never allow this.
I imagine the ones that do allow unguided hunts, will be kept under wraps. It wouldn't take much to ruin a good thing. e.g. just one person not paying for a un-recovered animal, or shooting a 12 point stag, and paying for a spiker etc.

I don't think you can sell hunts without a guide and a safety management plan.

    Not legally anyway.

Yep those days are long gone, even ‘access’ through a ‘mate of a mate’ is a hell of a lot different...

    Gee didn't realize that 😏
Yup I hunt on doc a lot and also have access to hunting where I farm.
Was just looking for somewhere new and possibly fallow deer as I haven't shot many of them before.
Will keep looking and may just have to go the guided route.
