Heaps of places to find a chamois mate. Greenstone & surrounding areas, Eyres Mtns, Mt Aspiring NP & surrounds, Remarks just to name a few. Pick a likely looking valley with a decent head basin between 950 - 1350 masl and decent sized south facing bluff systems and go for a look. The best part about hunting chamois down here is there is as much chance as finding a deer as there is chamois in most of these spots. Also, at this time of year be wary of increased avalanche risk, I noticed on Thursday there were some fresh ones which were decent sized in the valley I was hunting.
