Got a goodie for ya. East of te Anau is a long valley(forgot the name) it flows from a saddle in the east Ellington, you're able to land in the saddle as it's just outside the no fly zone. This valley is between the Anau downs and mavora lakes. Wicked spot, either camp down towards the bush or halfway easy country to get around. Let us know how you go.

Used to hunt that valley a fair bit. Plenty of traffic through there as reasonably easy walk in from Milford Rd or Mavora lakes. Last roar trip I did in there bumped into multiple different parties in the mid-upper reaches. Gorgeous country and no shortage of animals.
