go to wreckers yard...lots of lumps of solid iron around if you look... the scrap bin at engineers too. old dozer/digger cleats etc.
get onto facebook and yo uwill guarantee to find someone local who KNOWS what they are doing.... as part of your uni there will be a'native studies person" they will know someone and could use it as a "cultural cooking experience".....
