On Christmas eve, I went on my first actual hunt with @hunter308 and @mucko, we didn't get anything but it was a good walk. Never seen nature at its best:P

glad you enjoyed the walk with us James
@hunter270 you have the makings of a fine hunter your footwork was very good for your first time out, plus your eyes were working well to pick up on sign all around you. your ears were working well as you listened to advice and hand gestures. keep up the great work. anyone in the top of the south willing to take this young man for a hunt?
You cheeky little shit :P
Totally agree @mucko he did really well out there, better than his old man
Hopefully he can meet up with some of the members from the blenheim area that could help him out with the occasional hunt as he was really loving it out in the bush the other day I just need to set him up with some decent footwear when I get back to work.
You good buggers
Whats @hunter270 paddle size
when is he off home will try for another hunt
@mucko James is off back to Blenheim on the 24th of january would definitely be keen to get him out for another hunt before then, his foot size is around a size 7
@mucko Yeah I fit a size 7, it would be great to do that again before I leave.
@hunter270 we will
OI @hunter308 jan 10-11 overnighter
@mucko I am back at work on the 5th so won't be able to do an overnighter on those dates , will have to be a saturday and sunday for an overnighter jeeze these xmas breaks are just not long enough
@hunter308 thats why i said 10th-11th thats a sat and a sun sat night camp if your working the 10th we can get in for a evening hunt
duh silly me I was looking at the wrong flamin calendar yup I will be in for those dates, will put in a leave form for the saturday when I get back to work. Will have to let his grandmother know to have him back from feilding before then I have a spare summer weight sleeping bag for him to use.
@hunter270 drop this good bugger a pm
big thanks for that @veitnamcam I will have to buy you a beer if I ever get down that way or if you ever come up here. Just be warned his mum and stepfather may want to meet you before taking him out.
Thats the only problem
I would say once your mum and stepfather are reassured that everything will be ok I can't see why they would not let you go as this would be a really good confidence builder for you and also gets you away from the house and out into nature plus it will help keep your fitness up for soccer. Next time you come up I will have to try and organise a trip to Taupo for a sika hunt so you can hear what they sound like when you spook them.
that would be nice but you know mum, she's stubborn
Yeah I know she can be bloody stubborn mate I was married to her long enough and she used to try and keep me pinned under her thumb too. You never know mate if she can see that you are passionate about being out in the bush which is somewhere she can not go due to her physical limitations and that people are willing to teach you how to be safe and how to put food on the table she may see it in a different light, I (and members here) would rather encourage you to enjoy the outdoors than discourage it. If you get her to meet members from here then she may ease up failing that hit plan B and tell her you want to come up here that may change her tune :D
@veitnamcam I don't know any good spots in Blenheim, only just started hunting
