Cleaning a tahr head
So, I've boiled it up and given it a hose down but can't seem to get rid of that faint smell inside the horns and on the skull itself. Have seen some people recommending peroxide? Should i go with this and if so what percentage, how long do I leave it on, etc? First time doing a tahr head and she's a little more to it than stags have been in the past. Also, can I pour that peroxide inside the horns to get rid of the smell in them?

pull the horn shell off and clean the rest of the skull, soak it in a peroxide mix 5-10% strength. if its still fresh the horn shell might not come off very easily yet and you might need it to rot a bit before it comes off

Ive taken the horn off and boiled both skull and horns as Ive been told. Cut top 3rd off bone under horn as was told before boiling. Power hosed after and everything looks spotless. Just has that faint stink around it that hasn't disappeared even after some time out in the sun.

Peroxide will help kill the smell. I use 35% Peroxide

Someone suggested spraying in crc. It worked a treat for me.

I put one in freezer for 3 months unwrapped, I boiled the skull up to horns and then basically freeze dried the horns, worked well.
