New World & Repco are behind the high wall.
The airport runway is just beyond the hedge row.
The Villas are behind me when shooting.
One old fella came out and took my photo holding a dead goose to show his wife saying, "You're a bloody hero mate!"
I fired 5 rounds of triple two for four birds, then went 150 metres away and shot 2 for 2!
    Happy Days!

Always exciting doing shooting jobs inside city limits when much can go wrong. I worked for the RC Pest Function here in the BOP and we had a few jobs around Rotorua and other areas to deal with from time to time such as rabbits and hares in newly planted retirement areas etc. I think the key to success was doing your homework on the lay of the land, knowing where the hazards were, and good notification of the locals and keeping the Police well informed.
By all accounts that job you did went well so well done.

Amazes me the fire power you are using, around built up areas, obvious long shots. I shoot life style blocks and horse paddocks. All my shooting is done at night. With night vision, hand held thermal, & a PCP air rifle at 35 fps all is as quiet as a mouse.
Recently did some extermination, two of us with 223 doing the count down fire, rabbits in the middle of the day, great fun, but that was out on farm land.

Having just closed two mounds on our range due to flooding on the range floors which significantly raises the ricochet hazard I'd say you were taking a considerable risk shooting in that environment. Just my opinion.

is that a temporary closure? surely they would reopen when the water level lowers.

By using varmits type projectiles you have somewhat mitigated risk.by HITTING target you have pretty much expended any further risk they pose. I'm sure you took background into account.

Belmont made a run of frangible 223 at one stage. It would disintegrate on impact with a hare.

Yes - they have subsequently reopened. A council pump was on the blink.

We are all quite well aware what can go wrong with culling geese in built up areas.

But fear not, bullet ricochets are safe “Had that bullet or bullet fragment hit a person, in my professional opinion, it would have at most resulted in a bruise,” the contractor’s email said.

Gidday @flock I have to ask the question, have you ever shot a Canada Goose with your PCP at 70 odd metres?

As a general rule of thumb, anything which is shot in the (vital part) of the head will die. Sometimes instantly, sometimes after some theatrical. From the rabbit photo it looks like the PCP would do the job.

But when the birds are no longer sitting pretty, and are milling around squarking, would you be confident killing them quickly, with one pallet to the body? Or would they become FLAPPERS!?

In my work I cannot afford to have flapper! As I said before, there are six staff watching me and 8 to 12 Villas looking down onto the pond. I need instantaneous kills with no drama. I can't be seen to treating animals "inhumanely" or "cruelly."

The worst case scenario, which I'm trying to avoid, is a flapper going over the fence into the New World carpark where is goes flapping around circles, bleeding out in front of Granny and the kids, with me or someone else running around after it, trying to kick it to death. Just imagine what that would look like on social media and the six o'clock news!

Last question about your PCP (I know nothing about these) is it a bolt action repeater? A semi automatic? Or do you hand feed each pallet?

Don't know how geese would react at night, but pigeans don't tend to fly when its dark example https://www.youtube.com/shorts/A-xRHh-pVBA

PCP has a air tank which is pumped up to 3000 psi and at fullpower I get roughly 80 shots. Pigeons I adjust the power down to half & get 150 shots. Handy to reduce power as to not blow holes threw roof iron & other damage.
Prenty of footage Uk clearing rats etc they run 12 fps with out needing a firearms licence. All PCPs require a firearms licence in NZ.
Mine is the FX wildcat M3, I have 2 18 shot mags. Running a, Pard 0800lrf night vision scope which ranges the gives me the hold over to aim for, programed in, so all I have to think about is windage. Accuracy, it pisses on a 22lr.
Only using pellets but if you have more grunt you can use the latest & greatest Slugs with a higher weight & BC people are shooting way beyond pellet performance.
