Check when it was last hit by DOC, I think I remember hearing from a few chaps that it's been hit a few times in the last few years.

It got hammered last autumn,by guided partys and then I know that the local Heli operater definitely dropped quite a bit groups in the top end -the 3 main catchments.
There was some photos around of some good cham that came out of there at the start of it all, don't think the roar partys had much success.
    - it's very close to minaret station and that's alpine heli who are still doing
    Waro...

Been a zillion yrs since I hunted the area. Twas one of the top blocks for chamois, big mobs ti be exact and some really top bucks
ti boot. The ol tin hut would be long gone now along with the high numbers of chamois fi sure?
Myself and a side kick spent many weeks at a time collecting chamois buck headskins for a well known taxidermist back then
and we covered the surrounding country also. Red stags were aplenty at times..great place indeed. I recall a rock overhang big enough
to use as a fly camp up valley from the ol hut,was a nice dry spot..
I do remember the cocky from the station drowned while crossing the river aways back,,was a nice guy and very generous.
Would love ti hear a report from the area nowadays.

The ol hut even back then was pretty basic..constructed from Beech poles with dirt floor, rough fireplace.

The Buck on the block was around 10 and a half inches which is one we decided ti keep as I actually shot him from my sleeping bag while on a fly camp..the animal walked right up to us and was put down while held by a maglight torch lol..hard case.
