Righty ho now I have your attention!

In this day and age of wizzbang magnums(I am guilty) and range finding scopes I feel it's easy to loose the simplicity of what we love to do!

By this I am meaning bush stalking and shooting deer with open sights in particular. I've only ever shot deer with a scoped rifle and really feel that to really embrace hunting in a pure form(not talking about using a spear and being scantily clad!).

What my objective is over the coming months is to shoot a deer with open sights. The deer cullers managed just fine so why can't I with my Marlin 336 SS? I love my wing shooting but deerstalking is my passion. Over the coming months(busy until May with work) I will attempt to do what is becoming done less and less the done thing.much less the number of people who know how to use open sights. A bit of time in the bush around Manapouri should be just what's needed.
