    Cyanide

    Hi,

in the pesticide summary I noticed that cyanide (Feratox including strikers) has been laid in the St James Conservation area from 24/5/2019 until 1/11/2019. Signs are expected to be removed 4 months later, which would be 01/03/2020. Here's the Link.

Originally I had planned to go to St James mid-March. Would that be bad idea due to the cyanide? Or would it be safe to drink water and eat meat?

I don’t really know anything about cyanide or the use of it so any information would be greatly appreciated.

You have no problems at all with Cyanide. Even if an animal consumes a non-lethal dose there is no residue in the carcase. Cyanide reacts with water and breaks down safely in that chemical reaction. Don't eat the Feratox or let a dog eat

Cyanide in the form you have mentioned above is hand laid so poses less problems. It is a highly toxic poison but has a lot less issues than say 1080. Treat it as a poison and you won't have a problem, as always with poisons keep your children and dogs from having access to it.

Water and animals taken from the area should be fine.

Even if an animal has been exposed it's rapidly broken down and almost all gone within a few hours.
