    Red face Deer In Auckland

I had a red yearling cross the road in front of me today, 5 min from the northern motorway.
didn't have any tags in it either it made my day, Thought to my self you don't see that every day.

It will most likely be an escapee from a deer farm or the off spring of an escapee. I took a balloon ride from Helensville to Dairy Flat a few years back and saw quite a big stag by itself on farm land just before (and bordering) the Riverhead Forest. I had one yearling stag get out about ten years back. He gapped it to the other side of SH 16 never to be seen again.

Was south of Tokoroa right on dusk, SH1 on what I call tarpot hill. Car coming towards me flashed its lights and as I came thru a cutting there was a hind about to run across the road, she turned very quickly and ran back into the pines, quite often see pigs on the side of the road thru there

I have always been told that there are no Fallow in the Waitakeres but could never work out why as there is nothing to really stop them migrating from the Woodhill Forest to down there.

@Rushy I was out the door I was standing on the porch the kitchen window was two windows down from the porch the pig just happened to be ripping up the cover of the maize silage stack to get at the maize silage so had to deal with it swiftly.
