Deer hunt brings home the bacon instead.

Went for a local deer hunt on the weekend, stumbled along this boar and a good head shot secured me so pork. Hour and a half hard grind got him out. The 308 does the business

Thats a bloody decent sized pig, I'm not that keen on Boar pork.... Had an old gamey one and it's put me off wild pork unless you pick the right animal same as goats I guess

Yeah mate, true dat.The last one we took was that way,but to "soften" the taste,we did a 50/50 mix with a hogget, and turned it into snarlers, very tasty indeed. It will definitely take the gamey taste away.

Exactly what I do with bigger pigs and also last stag. Nobody complaining and not much sausages left in the freezer. Time to make some more as I have a fair bit of ven and a couple of hoggets ready to kill.

An old trick from my younger pig hunting days. My wife doesn't like gamey wild pork . We were told by an old bloke to put it in a roasting dish with milk. It must have the lid on so the milk won't burn. Definitely makes a difference.

Ha ha the no of times hoped for venison has become pork is quite frequent. Target of opportunity is what I call it now. Sows generally eat better but any dead pig is a good pig
