Deer Processing Course - 13th September

I know, I know, you are all seasoned, forth generation hunters in here, so were probably taught how to process a deer as a kid.

For those of us who didn't have family that were hunters (and grew up in urban Auckland) - I have organised another course on gutting, skinning and processing a deer.

Nothing worse that shooting a deer, then not knowing what to do with it. I know it held me back for a while. I didn't want to waste what I had just shot.

It's being held at Balnagown Hunting - just north of Auckland on the Sunday.

The feedback was excellent from the last one, so doing another for those that didn't get along last time.

Field dressing and basic home butchery course

Figured some of the guys here might be interested.

Come along, I have sorted some give-aways for the day, and Richard is an absolute wealth of knowledge on all things Fallow.

I will even make you a cuppa!

We are talking Auckland. 2 cups of coffee and a scone will likely set you back about $150...

Hey that sound interesting I might be up for that. Getting the bits back to base is one thing but making a tidy job of breaking it down into actual cuts I am clueless.

Richard (who runs Balnagown) probably breaks down between 2/3 deer a week and was taught by his father who worked at the meatworks. He is very efficient, very fast and very tidy. We had a couple of guys who had been hunting for many years come up to the last one - they all gave me feedback that they had also learnt a lot from it.

+1 always room to improve, no matter how many you've had on the hook - I'd be keen also.

I'm a great fan of continual education - one can always learn more ... so even though I know enough to get by, I'd be keen.

I don't suppose you'd be running one in the Wellington region ?
