    deer at the river

I was fishing at a fav trout spot on the river the other day, turned around and seen about 7 deer happily grazing away there. they seen me and kept eating.

I was wondering if anyone has or had any info on whether I could shoot them or not? closest house would be 1 km away, should I ask? I noticed they had no tags, but the river is close to the main rd

any knowledge and or help is much appreciated

Well the only way anyone could tell you is if you tell them where it was.

Use the DoC site and see if it's a Recreational Hunting Area.

Well if it's not a RHA then it's probably private land, especially if you say nearest houses 1km away. Maybe approach the houses and ask.

And yeah enjoy the PM's hahaha.

No harm in asking around they can only say no. Dont shoot with out permission that will be poaching.

You tell this lot where you were after you have shot all the deer and caught all the fish. Then do a swap if they show you their spot first
