Go the back road from Ashurst to Mangaweka. There is a deer farm with red stags that look like they have had a double dose of steroids. Unbelievable heads.

Think I drove passed that place a few years ago. We had to stop the ute and stare!

If only they stayed on the side of the road and didn’t decide to cross it…

Revisiting an old post, reasons for it.....

Reason 1 - I started a new post called "Roadside Wildlife" in the photo section of the forum. Here is a link to it - https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....ildlife-90561/
Reason 2 - I'm trying to get a deer standing in the middle of the road as I previously stated against the photo attached below. For the geeks I have used Snip and Sketch to capture it off the forum as misplaced the original photo, hence photo quality?

    The obvious....
Lower North Island, Palmerston North south area. There is a town called Shannon and there is a road from the town to the Mangahao dam/s.
I managed to photograph this young stag standing close to the middle of the road a couple of weeks ago. Persistence pays off I suppose....
Mister Stag didn't stand around long enough for a decent close up photo before he hoofed it around the corner, however it came out alright in the end....

Perhaps I might put some more photos up here.
Perhaps someone has a photo of a Sika deer standing in the middle of Clements Mill Road?
