    Deer sign...

Friday evening, 7.30. There's about 500 acres of scrub over the top of the ridge in the neighbours where the circled dead deer came from (230 yard shot).

How did I know that this would be a good spot to watch?? Any guesses?

Yeah, you guys are mostly onto it.

The missing panel of battens and crooked battens in a bit of a saddle caught my eye. It's a boundary fence and elsewhere pretty tidy. Where the panel of missing battens is there is a bare patch of grass where they have been jumping over. It was sheltered too on a really windy night. Just on dark about 45 minutes later I got a second one.

The first one I shot didn't jump over it actually pushed through the wires where the battens are missing.

    Next question: what's the 'scope??

Strange deer normally hate the smell of sheep.

Fallow don't seem to mind mingling with sheep. Hungry deer, and too many as well.

flying along boundarys in the 500 one could see from quite some way off the little black marks in paddock where deer had jumped fence and landed digging front hooves in - but even better wet grass the tracks stood out clear as - deer in the paddock somewhere - had to look though at times they were several paddocks out into farm

    Nikko Stirling?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
