6.5x55 is a pretty good first cal. In saying that I started with a .303 not that I killed anything with it but have shot a couple of deer with my brothers and they dropped just like any I've shot with the 6.5

Ive already decided if I get back into hunting lark and need a better rifle I am gonna look for a Husquvana (spelling) M1600 in 6.5x55

Real rifle with blued steel / wood and prices I have seen all pretty good value for money.

From what I have read the swedes knew how to make a great rifle and the ones I have seen about were all in the 700-900 bracket and they almost looked new, given they were all at least 40 years old I thought them good value for money compared to the rugers and all the other budget rifles in a similar price range.

No but is on private and might as well be on public land(any centerfire rifle) so that includes 17cal. Which i don't think anyone would recommend as a deer rifle.

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

I thought it had to be centerfire .222rem minimum exculding .22hornet and shotguns. So no .17's or anything rimfire allowed

Where does it say that? I thought it just excluded rim fire and shot gun?

Mate I would happily lend you a rifle. What I meant was that'll be the day that I owe you. I put up with you following me around like a bad fart smell asking me questions when you were a kid. Ha ha ha ha.what about the weekend after your olds get back?

Ha ha ha I can bring a rifle for you if you want. I don't mind if you ask your old man if he would like to come for the weekend. We could go down on the Friday after your guys work and then come back on the Sunday.
