Gidday all,
I'm wondering if anyone in the Wellington (mainly), Kapiti, or Wairarapa areas owns/has access to/knows of somewhere I can take the youngins to shoot some rabbits to take home for mum to cook up?
The small game DOC permit seems a much harder route as I've had next to zero luck there.

Buy a .223 and go small game shooting on public land until your hearts content, daytime only obviously though.

Yeah, but head shots only. Gut shot a wabbit with a .223 and you're probably going to go hungry while trying to pick up the pieces.

Would be aiming for a head shot every time even with the 22. That way he can just go in the oven whole! 😁
Shoot them in the head with a 223 and by the time you get there they're bled out :thumbsup:
well i managed to shoot a hare with a 7mm RM awhile back. not much left.
Load up some trail boss loads for the .223, they punch on thru with minimal meat damage,suppress it as well and go nuts,won’t spook the area with every shot that way.thats what I do with my .308 ,used to do it with a 223 years ago.
