    friend bought a 300 win, i bought a 7mm rem mag.
side by side the power and accuracy is about the same, the 7mm is far flatter

A friend just bought a hells canyon in this, soft recoil, excellent trigger, only thing that i thought let it down was the plastic rotary mag. Its got me thinking could i use one too.
I also know someone who had a t3 in 308 reamed to 300 win mag it ended up in a sporter stock to tame the recoil.

7mm rem ultra mag is the one for that, also most "short magnums" suffer throat erosion more than a porn star
