Thread: dogs chasing deer.

So I was hunting in the Kaimai's a few weeks back. When a hind came running into sight and up a bank straight toward us. My brother took the shoot and dropped it. A minute later we were joined by 4 burnt out dogs with gps collars.
Another few minutes and their owner approached saw we had killed the hind.
He said sweet as and went on his way.

Is this common? I always thought it was a big no no to let your dogs chase anything but pigs?
