    Donate Vension?

Does anyone know if there is any legal way to donate venison? It's not uncommon to end up with more than my family needs, and most of my mates hunt, as well.

I would be very keen see less fortunate families receive some fresh, quality wild venison. It seems quite odd that so much of our wild venison ends up in restaurants in Germany and the US, while Kiwi families make do with minced old dairy cow.

Legal way ? Invite people over for a feed at your house.

Any other way if pretty much illegal from a food safety point of view. It's nuts, but that's the law for ya !

In practical terms, do it quietly and don't advertise it or post about it on here or FB

I just ask my mates if they want some. Have given a fair bit to my neighbours too. Generally don’t have an issue giving it away

If someone wants to come in and carry out whatever they want go for it fill ya boots.
My meat is all carried out in a pack on my poor long suffering 60 year old back.then I process it people want it all cut and packaged and generally ya get stuff all thanks
So I only shoot for my needs these days and let most animals go and photograph instead much more satisfaction taking a photo nowadays.

As for legally giving away I can see no issue but sell or donate is a no go

From the document at https://www.mpi.govt.nz/dmsdocument/1059/direct, worth reading, this document.

"You can share your wild game meat with family, friends or visitors as long as you don’t exchange it for money or other goods or services."

I am absolutely sure, that I am your friend and that you are my friend.

Anyone you give venison to should (if anyone asks) refer to you as a friend.
