Thread: Doubtful Range

I have 4 days off in 3 weeks time. I have my cousin coming down from Palmy. Want to have a look at some new country. Am thinking either Leatham conservation,Matakitaki(not after info on these two) or the Doubtful range. I have never explored the Lewis Pass area yet. We will be tenting. Was thinking of using the track from Windy point to access the Tops and go from there. Is the doubtful a busy range? If I look hard enough is there a few critters around. Keen more to find a Chamois but will take a deer for meat to send my cousin home with something. He is not yet a hunter but has been on a couple of trips with my father into the Nelson Lakes. Any info would be awesome.
