    East coast chopper options (tahr)

I have the old man coming for his first tahr hunt this weekend and my west coast plan A looks average weather wise

Never used a chopper on east coast, any recommendations for affordable options in the Canterbury region. Will be flying friday morning and out Sunday. Only two of us so a squirrel isn't an option

    Cheers

The 500 at Tekapo heli is always a solid option.

Otherwise if you're after somewhere a bit closer to Chch, Station Air/Proutings at Mesi could be another option, although you'll definitely pay a premium there, and odds are good they will've been flat out taking all the mature bulls they can over the last month or so.

I just went through this. I'd have liked to use the Tekapo guys (which is a James Scott business) and Jason was hellva obliging. However at $2250 for our lift (right on the northern edge of their concession) Malcolm Prouting (Mesopotamia) was a lot cheaper at $1800 for the same placement. Thats for 3 guys and their gear into a valley about 25 km (I guess) from base and collect in a 500 with a max payload of 440 kgs

In that case I'd be trying Mt Cook Helicopters for a drop off into the Grizzly. Never priced it but its a bloody short trip.

Heliworks at Mt Cook could be worth a call too.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
